SSC MTS Eligibility Details 2016 – Syllabus & Pattern

Commission conducts Multitasking Staff recruitment exam every year. Here
is the syllabus and pattern of this examination. hope this is helpful
for you and to make the preparation for the exam.
Paper-I Syllabus of SSC MTS exam:
General Intelligence:
General Intelligence section will have questions on similarities and
differences, space visualization, figure classification, arithmetical
number series, non-verbal series, problem solving, analysis, judgment,
decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship
concepts etc. This section will also have questions on dealing with
abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical
computation and other analytical functions.
English Language : This
section is to check candidates’ understanding of the Basics of English
Language and its vocabulary, grammar, synonyms, antonyms and its correct
usage, sentence structure etc. his/her writing ability would be
tested.
Numerical Aptitude:
This section will have questions on Number Systems, Computation of Whole
Numbers, Decimals and Fractions, relationship between Numbers,
Fundamental, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Percentages,
Ratio and Proportion, use of Tables and Graphs, Mensuration, Time and
Distance, Time and Work etc.
General Awareness:
Questions in this section is to check candidate’s general awareness of
the environment around him and its application to society. This section
will include questions on knowledge of current events. The section will
also have questions relating to India and its neighboring countries
especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Economic scene,
General Polity, Geography including Indian Constitution, and Scientific
Research etc. The questions in this section will be such that they do
not require a special study of any discipline.
SSC MTS Syllabus of Paper-II:
This paper will be of descriptive type. The Paper will be set in
English and Hindi to test basic language skills commensurate with the
educational qualification prescribed for the post. Candidates will be
required to write one short essay/letter in English and Hindi each.
Candidates can opt to write the essay/letter in any Indian language
listed in 8th Schedule of the Constitution in lieu of Hindi.

(Paper-I) objective type paper and (Paper-II) descriptive type as shown below :Paper I
General Intelligence and Reasoning – 25 Questions – 25 Marks
Numerical Aptitude – 25 Questions – 25 marks
General English – 50 marks
General Awareness – 50 marks
Time allowed – 2 hrs. (2 hrs. 40 min. for Visually Handicapped candidates)
Paper II
Short Essay/Letter in English or any language included in the 8th schedule of the Constitution.
Paper-II will only be of qualifying nature.
Time allowed – 30 minutes
Maximum marks – 50 marks
